Pretzel Yumminess

On Graysen's birthday we made pretzels. I found a kid friendly receipe online. The kiddies loved putting ingredients together and getting their hands messy. We kneaded the heck outta that dough! We then put wax paper over outlined shapes of their initials, a heart, a star(a little hard to shape dough), and they even used some cookie cutters for fun. We brushed the pretzels with beaten egg then popped then in the oven for about 10 min..and ta-da! We ate our yummy homemade pretzels with our lunch on G's special day. It was a fun way to incorporate school even on a birthday! ;)

Receipe is :
1) Dissolve 1 T yeast in 1/2 cup of warm water
2) add 1 t of honey, 1 t salt
3) add 1 1/3 cup flour
4) knead!!!!!!
5) roll pieces/form letters (over wax paper w/letter guide under)
6) brush with beaten egg
7) sprinkle with salt
8) bake 425° for 10 minutes
*next time we will spinkle some with cinnamon sugar for a sweeter treat!

Happy pretzel making!
